Gathering/Call to Worship

Leader: Come, let us worship our God
who lives and moves on the border.
People: On the border? We thought the best place
to encounter God is in the religious center.
Leader: Come and follow the way of Jesus who began his
ministry on the border between the northern region
of Galilee and the southern region of Judea with the
capital Jerusalem.
People: Why not begin in the center? Why not just send a few
missionaries to the border zone?
Leader: God is at work in the border zones of life, bringing light
and life to those on the margins. Come and worship our
God who is our center and who lives and moves on the
border.

Leader: Jesus, you called to us from the shore of the sea of
Galilee, on the northern border of the religious capital.
We were fishing.
People: We heard you call out, “Follow me, and I will
make you fish for people.” We couldn’t resist.
We immediately left our boat and followed you . . .
and we haven’t been the same since.—Ron Rempel, Waterloo, Ontario
