The Spirit rested on them

Praising /Adoring

Leader: When you send your Spirit,
you renew the face of the earth.
People: May the glory of the Lord endure forever.
May God rejoice in God’s works!
Leader: God looks on the earth and it trembles;
God touches the mountains, and they smoke.
People: Let us sing to the Lord as long as we live.
Leader: May our meditation be pleasing to God.
All: For we rejoice in the Lord!

Praying

During creation your Spirit swept across the formless, empty
darkness of the deep waters, molding the chaos into your creation.
During Pentecost, your Spirit again swept across all those
gathered together there and molded them out of their chaos
and despair into the body of Christ. Today, sweep again across
the depths of our needs, molding us into new creatures, people
filled with your glory and power. Remake us again into the
church you have called us to be. Amen.

Sending

Go into the world’s turbulence as instruments of God’s peace.
Go as agents of God’s justice, that all may know the truth of
God’s ways. Go as artists who bear the joyful burden of
God’s creativity to bring light into the darkness and hope
among the despairing.
Go as communicators of God’s love, extending mercy where
needed.
Go with the joy of fellowship with the Holy Spirit.
—Norma B. Duerksen, Marion, Kansas
