Sow good seed

Gathering

Leader: You, O God, are the beginning and end,
alpha through omega.
People: You alone are God.
Leader: We are here to walk in your ways.
People: We are here to learn your truth and your love.
Leader: By birth, by adoption, and by redemption,
People: you have called us, you have claimed us,
and we are here.
All: God of creation and salvation, we worship you.

Confessing/Reconciling

O God, we confess we focus on the weeds in our lives,
in our lawns, and in those of our neighbors’ lives.
We search them out, tugging relentlessly, and in so doing
we damage the good that was growing there.
Give us the courage and grace to let go,
to see the beauty that is present, if not planned.
Give us the restraint
to sow only love and compassion in others,
and to cultivate it in ourselves,
leaving the rest in your discerning hands. Amen.

Sending

Children of God,
go in hope for what you do not see,
living in the kingdom that is not yet,
knowing that the very earth you stand on
is laboring with you,
awaiting the revelation and redemption.
Christ has come, Christ is here, and Christ will come again.
