Springdale Mennonite Church’s fall School for Christian Living sessions will focus on End-of-Life Issues and Planning and will run October 8, 15 & 22 and November 5, 12 & 19, 2014. A congregational meal will be held each evening at 5:30, followed by the sessions from 6:30-7:30. Each session will include time for questions and discussion. Childcare will be provided and children’s activities will be planned.

The VMC Congregational Life Committee is preparing for a “Consultation and Collaboration of Those Interested in Prison Ministry and Reform,” tentatively scheduled for November 22, place and time yet to be determined. This event is an opportunity for anyone with a passion for prison ministries to collaborate on various issues associated with incarceration. If you have interest in prison ministry, mark your calendar. Further details will be posted when available.

Matthew 21:33-46 - Listen to another parable: There was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a winepress in it and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and moved to another place. 34 When the harvest time approached, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his fruit.

Call to Worship

Leader: You are invited to the table that God has prepared
for all people everywhere
who call on the name of the Lord.
People: We come longing for God’s generous love and grace
to fill our life.
Leader: Come then; join your sisters and brothers in Christ
and receive from the bounty of God.
People: We open our hearts
to receive all that God has to offer.

Praying

Loving God, we confess that our lives do not always reflect our
walk with Christ. Too often we have placed our confidence in
the values of the world which leaves us unsatisfied and lost.
Forgive us for this ill-placed confidence. Help us to experience
more deeply the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus; to
see the life-giving possibilities that bring peace, justice, and joy
to us and to the world. Amen.

Sending

Leader: Go from this place filled with the blessing of knowing
Christ Jesus. Press on toward the prize of the heavenly
call of God for your life. May all you meet this week
see and experience the love of God through your
actions. Go with confidence, knowing that God will
be with you each step of the way.
People: We go now to share the good news of Jesus Christ.
