Announcements

The annual Motorcycles for Missions event will be held this year from June 10-11. Groups will begin the ride in Harrisonburg, Durham, and Roanoke, ending back in Harrisonburg for the Summer Conference Assembly evening worship session. See the bulletin board for more information.

The Perspectives on the World Christian Movement classes have helped thousands of Christians to align their lives with God’s global purposes. A rich menu of readings and fifteen interactive class sessions, with input from presenters sharing their particular expertise, combine to provide students with an understanding of four distinct dimensions of the missional challenge: Biblical, Historical, Cultural and Strategic. The course will be offered here in Harrisonburg again this fall – Tuesday evenings, from Sept 1- Dec 8, at Grace Covenant Church. For more information, check out the Perspectives website at www.perspectives.org or contact Carol Tobin at carol.tobin@vmmissions.org.

Please pray for:

  • Jenifer Bradford as she travels to England.

  • Margaret Mules as she deals with a prolonged illness.

  • The victims of the earthquake in Nepal.

  • A peaceful resolution in Baltimore.

Gathering/Call to Worship

Leader: Come and celebrate the blessing of God’s presence
within and among us.
People: We gather in joy, celebrating the abundant expressions
of God’s love.
Leader: Children of God, look! All around us are touches of the
Divine, from nature to neighbor, if we dare notice.
People: With all we are, we seek to see and honor God’s intricate
creation.

Confessing/Reconciling

O Great Light, all that you are is beyond our comprehension.
In the shimmer of your unconditional love, we cannot help
but acknowledge the many conditions we attach to our relationships,
our time, and the gifts you have given us. Forgive
us when we guard ourselves from you and close ourselves
off to our brothers and sisters. Teach us instead to open our
arms and minds and to make room in our hearts for all of your
children. Amen.

Sending

Leader: Limitless God, we go from here to live out your
unconditional love, as your Son Jesus did.
People: We yearn for hearts that are fully free in your light,
opening and welcoming all of your people and your
creation without limits.
Leader: Send us to seek and celebrate your life-giving essence in
all things.
People: Free us to embrace trust instead of fear; wonder instead
of close-heartedness; and a deeper unity in diversity
instead of uniformity. Amen!
