Announcements

Church council will meet this Wednesday at 7:00. Devotions: Kevin.

Kevin will be teaching the adult Sunday school class August 16, 23, and 30 with the lesson based on his thesis from Union Presbyterian Seminary. Each week Kevin will email an adapted version of a section of the document for review. If you wish to participate in the discussion or would just like to be included on the email list, please let Kevin know today.

Waynesboro Mennonite will host a district-wide “Family Fun” event on August 29 from 1-8:30 pm in their church pavilion. There will be a carry-in meal, games, and live music. Please see the bulletin board or Garlan for more information.

Please pray for:

  • Our church families as the travel this summer!

  • Those affected by the shootings in Chattanooga, TN and Lafayette, LA.

  • Joyce Showalter as she heals at home from shoulder surgery.

So that your words may give grace

Confessing

Leader: Our children and our neighbors near and far are listening
to us.
People: Do we speak the truth at all times?
Leader: Do our words build up?
People: Do our words give grace to those who hear?
All: Yes, Lord, we pledge to speak the truth with love.
Leader: As beloved children imitate their parents, we will imitate
God.
All: We will give the grace of forgiveness and restoration,
just as God in Christ has forgiven and restored us.

Praying

Fill me, Lord, with your loving, life-giving Spirit. Make my
heart tender, and my work and my words honest. Deliver me
from all my fears.
Open my ears to hear you, and my mouth to praise you!
Amen.

Sending

As Elijah journeyed in the strength of the food and water that
the angel of the Lord provided him, may you gain strength for
your journey by fully trusting in Jesus—the Living Bread—who
gave his life for the world. — Susan Miller, Hesston, Kansas
