Announcements

There will be a carry-in fellowship meal today after the church service. Please stay and share in this time with family and friends.

You are invited to stay after the meal today as we show the first hour of the documentary “…and When They Shall Ask,” which features the response of Mennonites in the Ukraine to persecution. The remainder of the film will be shown on Wednesday, February 3, beginning at 6 pm, and will be followed by a time of discussion. Please bring finger foods to share and feel free to come and go as your schedule allows.

Attention parents: Leah Huyard will be holding a babysitting fundraiser to support her trip with the EMHS Touring Choir this summer. You may bring your children to the church on February 12 anytime between 5 and 9 pm and enjoy a romantic Valentine’s Day meal out on your own. Please see Leah for more information.

Those interested in helping Leah’s friends Lucia and Mariana Martinez upgrade their visas, please go to www.gofundme.com/lmvisas. All funds will be immediately released to the Martinez family.

Please pray for:

• A D’s son-in-law, Hunter, as he recovers from kidney transplant surgery.
• Marvin Showalter as he anticipates bilateral knee surgery later this month.
• The family of Misty Crookshanks, friend of Artis and Gary, as they mourn following
    her untimely death.

Nehemiah 8:10b, “This day is holy to our Lord.
Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

No one truly knows Christ unless they follow Him daily in life" - Hans Denck

Thank you for joining us in worship today.  If this is your first time at Staunton Mennonite,
please fill out the “Welcome” card in the back of the pew and place it in the offering plate.

Where I send you, you must go

Gathering

People: We come because we long to know God.
Leader: Before we were formed, God knew us.
People: We come because we long to be called.
Leader: Before we were born, God set us apart for a calling.
People: We come knowing that we will be sent.
Leader: God’s words will come to life in our mouths,
and we will uproot and undo, build and plant.
Come, and prepare to be sent.

Offering

God of embarrassing generosity, just when we’ve drawn our
lines in the sand, there you are, tearing down our plans for
building fences between “us” and “them.” Without love, these
offerings are nothing. So as we release our money, we release
our desire to control how your kingdom comes. Help

Sending

Leader: Send us, Lord!
People: Into places we know,
where your love may startle and challenge.
Leader: Send us, Lord!
People: Into places we don’t know,
where your love may comfort and invite.
Leader: Send us, Lord!
All: We will go.
