Announcements

Staunton Mennonite Church will not be holding Sunday School through the months of June, July, and August. Instead there will be a time of fellowship before the worship service from 10:00 – 10:25. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.

You are invited to attend the worship services for the annual Virginia Mennonite Conference Assembly, July 21-22, beginning each night at 6:45. Thursday’s worship service will include a sermon by Drew Hart, faculty member at Messiah College. Friday’s service will feature a message from MCUSA moderator Patty Shelly.

Virginia Mennonite Conference Assembly is “Calling all Singers!” The Choir of Park View Mennonite Church invites you to joins us to sing “Total Praise,” by Richard Smallwood for the opening session, Thursday evening, July 21. This is a newly written gospel song which will certainly be familiar to some of you. Please join us for a brief rehearsal at 6 p.m. before the worship service. Music will be available.

Please pray for:

• An end to the hatred, violence, and killings in our country and around the world.
• Those who are traveling over the summer break.

“Now what I am commanding you today

Teach me

Affirming Faith

Leader: Your word is not distant,
People: it is not too difficult.
Leader: Your word is intimate,
People: in our hearts, and in our mouths.
Leader: Show us your ways. Teach us your truth.
All: We will obey your word.

Confessing/Reconciling

You asked for our love,
but we are distracted.
You asked for our love;
we had something else on our minds.
You asked for our love,
but the next assignment felt more important.
We have not loved the Lord our God
with heart, soul, mind, and strength.
(silence)
According to your love, remember us.
For you are good, O Lord.

Sending

We pray that we will live a life
worthy of the Lord,
and that we will please God
in every way. Amen.
— Elaine Maust, Meridian, Mississippi
