Staunton Mennonite Church will not be holding Sunday School through the months of June, July, and August. Instead there will be a time of fellowship before the worship service from 10:00 – 10:25. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.

Attention all students: please bring your backpack to church on Sunday, August 14 for a “Blessing of the Backpacks” service. Don’t worry, we will still pray for you if you forget to bring it!

The Shenandoah Valley Mennonite Historians are sponsoring a local Old Order Mennonite Tour led by Phil Kniss, September 10, from 8:30 am to 2 pm. Contact Jim Hershberger for registration and information at (540) 833-8033 or jimhersh254@gmail.com

Please pray for:

• Joyce Showalter, as she anticipates surgery to stop internal bleeding.
• Ivan Sell, as he deals with multiple health concerns.
• An end to the hatred, violence, and killings in our country and around the world.
• Those who are traveling over the summer break.

Luke 11:8b, “Yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up
and give you as much as you need.”

Seek the things that are above

Leader: Hear this, all people,
People: give ear, all inhabitants of the world,
Leader: both high and low,
People: rich and poor together.
Leader: We will speak wisdom,
All: and the meditation of our hearts will be understanding

Gracious God,
forgive us for the times we have not put aside our anger,
wrath, malice, and slander; for the abusive words we speak.
We confess that we have made distinctions between your people.
Forgive us.
For you are our life. We set our hearts and minds on the things above.
For Christ is our all in all. Amen.

Go in wisdom. Set your mind to seek and explore all that has been
done by the One who is present in all generations.
— Craig Oury, Boonsboro, Maryland
