Announcements

Staunton Mennonite Church will not be holding Sunday School through the months of June, July, and August. Instead there will be a time of fellowship before the worship service from 10:00 – 10:25. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.

Attention all students: please bring your backpack to church next Sunday, August 14 for a “Blessing of the Backpacks” service. Don’t worry, we will still pray for you if you forget to bring it!

Church Council will meet this Wednesday at 7:30 pm. Devotions: Frances.

The Shenandoah Valley Mennonite Historians are sponsoring a local Old Order Mennonite Tour led by Phil Kniss, September 10, from 8:30 am to 2 pm. Contact Jim Hershberger for registration and information at (540) 833-8033 or jimhersh254@gmail.com

Please pray for:

• Joyce Showalter, as she anticipates surgery to stop internal bleeding.
• Ivan Sell, as he deals with multiple health concerns.
• The strength to do our part to decrease hatred, violence, and killings in our country
   and around the world.
• Those who are traveling over the summer break.

1 Corinthians 3:9,
“For we are co-workers in God’s service;
you are God’s field, God’s building.”

Our soul waits

Praising/Adoring

Leader: Our souls wait for the Lord,
People: who is our hope, our help, our shield.
Leader: Our souls wait for the Lord,
People: whose steadfast love endures forever.
All: Happy are those who wait for the Lord!

Proclaiming

Faith is the assurance of things hoped for
and the conviction of things not seen.
By faith, Abraham set out for uncharted lands.
By faith, Abraham believed his offspring
would number more than the stars in the sky.
By faith, Abraham obeyed God when sorely tested.
Eternal God, like Abraham, may our faith grow, stretch, and bear fruit.
With faith and trust we say, Amen!

Offering

It is God’s good pleasure to give us the riches of the kingdom.
It is our good pleasure to share from this bounty,
acknowledging that where our treasure is, so also is our heart.
—Cindy Massanari Breeze, Champaign, Illinois
