Announcements

Today’s offering will be divided evenly between Virginia Mennonite Conference and Virginia Mennonite Missions.

The annual Fall Harvest Party will be held this afternoon at the Huyard Farm. All who are available immediately after church are encouraged to bring packed lunches and help prepare the Brunswick stew. Please bring knives, cutting boards, a side dish and ingredients (list available on the bulletin board) as well as lawn chairs. We hope the stew will be ready around 4:00pm. Also, remember to bring empty jars for leftover stew and jugs for cider!

Mary Baldwin University and the Temple House of Israel synagogue invite you to a free screening of the movie “Rosenwald,” which depicts the life of Julius Rosenwald as he established over 5,000 schools for underprivileged children in the United States. The documentary will be shown in MBU’s Francis Auditorium on November 16, beginning at 6:45 pm. A time for questions and answers will follow.

The Mennonite Women of Staunton annual Christmas party will be held on December 6. More details to come later.

Please pray for:

• For Leah Huyard, as she travels for college visits the next few weeks.

• The ongoing struggles in the Middle East.

• The transfer of power in the United States

Luke 21:9, “When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.”

Steadfast love and faithfulness

Gathering

Call to Worship:
Come, now is the time to worship.
Come, this is the time to give our hearts.
Come, let us offer new songs of praise
to the One who has done marvelous things.
Opening Prayer:
Holy God, you are not confined to the past;
you are not limited to distant places of space or time.
Your steadfast love is fresh each day;
your faithfulness has no expiration date.
Here and now, we offer you our worship.
May our lips and our lives proclaim your praises. Amen.

Offering

Forgive us, O Christ, for those times when we have considered this
part of our service an obligation—a necessary interruption to pay
the bills.
This small offering reminds us of your great offering, given for
our sakes and for the sake of the world. By your constant faithfulness
and steadfast love, the power of sin and death has been
broken. We have been set free! We give with joy because you have
given so very much. Amen.

Sending

Leader: Precious Lord, as we leave this time and this place, we
ask that you take our hand.
People: By your faithfulness and steadfast love guide us,
All: so that your healing and hope may flow through us to
the world. Amen.
—Harold Schlegel, Morden, Manitoba
